Since 1997, a predecessor of the Stannah Midilift has ferried generations of people between two floors in Cowley Road Methodist Church, a Grade II listed, wholly inclusive community pole star.
Installed to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (now the Equality Act 2010), this 20-year-old people-mover not only supports the church’s mission of equal access, but is also a fitting tribute to Stannah’s 150th anniversary as a leading light of the UK lift industry.
As with all worthy entities, this platform lift operates behind a deceptive exterior – a brown swing door with a glass viewing panel, through which a lift enthusiast would gasp at the original features, such as the original control panel, complete with heritage Stannah logo.
Skilled in its discreet role, this platform lift worker owes its long life to Stannah’s superior product reliability and the support of a comprehensive lift servicing plan, delivered by the South Midlands and Home Counties branch of Stannah Lift Services, part of a nationwide network providing comprehensive lift servicing and support.
