More than 2,000 sheets of Norbord’s 1 1mm Sterling OSB 3 have been supplied for the structural timber frame of a new grammar school in Kirkwall, Orkney.

Oriented Strand Board is made at Norbord’s Inverness factory from wood grown in sustainably managed Scottish forests, and was supplied to design-build contractor Morrison Construction via the Orkney branch of Jewson.

The design incorporates timber frame throughout and incorporates copper cladding, natural stone, render and glass facades under a standing seam metal roof.

“This is by far the largest timber frame building I ’ve seen here on Orkney” said Brian Kynoch, manager of Jewson’s Kirkwall branch. “We supplied an initial order for 1 ,476 sheets of OSB and started shipping in January 201 2. We then received an order for a further 738 sheets which were delivered in February. ”
