Stunning external façade for Magna International factory

Eurobond Europanel F5 Extra was specified as the external façade of the new factory of Magna International in Telford, Shropshire.

Magna International has invested millions of pounds in ambitious growth plans to support demand for lightweight automatic parts, as a result the building needed to make a statement and reflect Magna's corporate identity.

The building needed to be functional, incorporating the 3 main operations of the building, the front elevation would need to integrate with glazing and feature an impressive front façade whilst allowing the adjacent elevations of the building to include large access doors.

Eurobond Europanel F5 Extra was specified as the external façade and has been vertically installed in module widths of 1200mm creating a band effect in three different Colorcoat Prisma® colours of Alaska Grey, Slate Grey and Anthracite by Tata Steel.

The Europanel F5 with its secret fix joint delivers a sleek and seamless transition throughout the colours emulating the company's corporate identity to create an aesthetically appealing façade.

The composite panels to the front façade incorporated the Eurobond V-groove profile, adding a vertical joint effect to the panel face and was skilfully used to mimic the mullion design of the curtain walling below.

The spanning capabilities of the Europanel have been fully utilised, with spans up to 7.5m, to break the 13.6m elevation into just 3 vertically installed panels. The independently audited production of Eurobond composite panels and the inherent offsite construction methodology allowed for the very tight manufacturing tolerances required to fix 3 separate banks of vertical panels, in different colours, to create the seamless strips of colour.
