As part of a major refurbishment of the clinic at the Glasgow Dental Hospital, over 500m2 of Tarkett linoleum flooring has been installed. The Hospital is also a school for around 400 undergraduate students, as well as providing post-graduate research opportunities and taught programmes.
Armitage Associates were commissioned to alter the layout of the main clinic of the Dental Hospital to create an open plan space that would streamline working practices, whilst creating a bright, warm atmosphere for patients. It was also important to create a relaxed environment, particularly for the children who attend the clinic.
Lena Armitage of Armitage Associates explains why Tarkett was chosen for the flooring: Tarketts Veneto XF was specified because it is an environmentally friendly product which is extremely durable and resilient. It also comes in a wide choice of colours, and were very pleased with the overall finish of the floor in the new clinic.
Tarkett has been producing linoleum flooring for over 100 years and has pioneered a number of innovations, including a new surface treatment XF. This gives Tarketts linoleum an extremely strong surface toughness and excellent resistance to abrasions, stains and chemicals. No initial wax or polish is needed and the ease of cleaning means maintenance costs can be cut by up to 30%. Water, energy and detergent consumption is also reduced by up to 50%, helping to give linoleum XF one of the best lifecycle costs on the market.
Linoleum has excellent environmental credentials being made from natural, renewable raw materials. It provides a smooth, warm surface offering comfort underfoot and good acoustic properties. Linoleum xf is available in a dynamic and vibrant colour range of 68 references with four levels of pattern expression, from plain and soft to medium marbling and multicolour. The design collection is inspired by todays architectural trends, ensuring a versatile and contemporary design approach that imparts a positive energy to all kinds of commercial areas.
