Tegola asphalt shingles chosen for Bicester Village

Tegola asphalt shingles chosen for Bicester Village

Project: Bicester Village
Architects: Lyon + Sleeman + Hoare
Main Contractor: Sir Robert McAlpine
Roofing Contractor: Project Services
Location: Bicester, near Oxford
Objective: To provide a roof finish with a traditional appearance but which was lighter and more economical.

Matthew Hebden provided a full service to the architects, with samples and assistance with working drawings, and to the contractors with installation advice.

Tegola's black asphalt shingle looks like slates and a special kiln firing process ensures a fade free appearance. Tegola weigh only 10.5gs/m2, a quarter of the weight of concrete tiles, and this produced economies in the support structure, which with their economic price led to significant savings.

Tegola shingles have an excellent life span as they are stronger than the British Standard requirements, have a design life of 35 years and have a top fire rating.
