The Hygienik team developed and installed a recycled internal cladding system for four temporary McDonald's restaurants within London's Olympic Park.

A cladding solution devised by Hygienik Systems enabled McDonald's to build four temporary restaurants within the Olympic Park site for the 6-week duration of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

One of the restaurants was the world's biggest McDonald's outlet with 1,500 seats for customers.

Working with AEW Architects and McDonald's Olympic Construction Manager, Hygienik were challenged to find an eco-friendly alternative to traditional permanent PVC cladding for the four restaurants.

The restaurants were removed following the Games, so the challenge was to find a cladding material and a system that allows panels to be re-used or recycled when the restaurants were de-commissioned.

Hygienik installed over 2000 square metres of recycled cladding in the kitchen, washroom and corridor areas.

The cladding was de-installed safely with minimum damage to the panels and collected by the Hygienik team.

Hygienik has installed cladding panels for the kitchens and back-of-house storage areas for over 150 McDonald's restaurants in the UK and Sweden.
