The Brewers Foundation: Supporting St Catherine’s Hospice

The Brewers Foundation are proud to support St Catherine’s Hospice with the donation of £40,000 to help towards building a brand-new hospice and reach a wider range of people within West Sussex and East Surrey who need their extraordinary care.

The local Brewers branch in Crawley are celebrating 65 years within the community this year and wanted to celebrate by donating to St Catherine’s Hospice as they look to grow their incredible range of services for those within the community who need it most.

After nearly 40 years of delivering outstanding care and doing the best they can on the current site, there is no more room to grow at the current location. That’s why a brand-new hospice is essential, to ensure that everyone can benefit from St Catherine’s services.

The new hospice will provide more care to more people in the local community.

It will allow St Catherine’s to expand its expert community services so more families can have support in the comfort of their own home. It will also allow the charity to increase wellbeing, emotional care and bereavement support by offering private counselling rooms, a reflective courtyard and spiritual space.

All ward rooms at the hospice will have a peaceful private garden and ensuite bathroom. 12 rooms will have adjoining sitting rooms for families to stay overnight. Four rooms have been especially designed to meet the needs of people with dementia. There will also be family spaces for relatives on each ward to prepare food, relax and take a moment.

Laura Kelly, Head of Partnerships at St Catherine’s Hospice said: “We are so grateful to Brewers Decorator Centres for their incredible £40,000 gift towards our new hospice. Their generosity will help transform hospice care for our local community.

As West Sussex and East Surrey’s local hospice, we’ve been proud to provide care and support to thousands of local families, thanks to the support of companies like Brewers and other people in our community. But with no room to grow at our current hospice site, we need to expand. Our new hospice will help us to meet the rising demand for hospice care and to provide more care to more people.

We’re thrilled that building work on our new St Catherine’s Hospice is progressing well. The walls are rising, with the first windows now installed and the roof tiles in place. We’re on schedule to have our first rooms complete by August, ready to move in and welcome our community in Autumn 2023.”

Brewers look forward to seeing the development of the brand-new site and wish St Catherine’s all the best with the project. To find out more about the new hospice or to donate, please visit: www.stch.org.uk/newhospice
