Type of works: supply of Wharram Designs' furniture for all the public areas.
HICA life is a company dedicated to offering homes for older people and adults with learning difficulties.
HICA's latest project, the Holderness Grange Retirement Village, is a retirement development in Hedon, to the east of Hull. The development has 143 homes onsite, a country club and has been furnished by Wharram Designs.
As a flagship project for HICA, the Holderness Grange project was to be a 21st century building that could provide a wide range of accomodation for older people with differing levels of need. All facilities were to be provided and even include a bowling green in the central court, in addition to a resident's private cinema. The development also has a number of dining areas, gymnasium, bars and socialising areas. The intention being to create a community within the development, whilst the site is within easy walking distance of Hedon town centre.
Wharram Designs were contacted to provide all of the furniture for the public areas, including dining rooms, sitting rooms, bar and socialising areas. Supplying in excess of 300 separate items, Wharram Designs worked closely with not only the client, HICA, but also with the project contractors to ensure that all of the internal fittings and furnishings were complimented by the new furniture. Attention to detail in the selection of fabrics and wood finishes used on the furniture ensured that carpeting, wall coverings and accessories came together to provide a stylish, practical and comfortable environment.
Project Manager for Wharram Designs said: "This flagship project for HICA is an important step forward for the organisation's development and it was important for Wharrams to work effectively with all of the people involved in the build. The fabrics and finishes used have a stylish look and feel, giving a high-quality finish."
