Client: Tower of London
Architect: RMJM
Type of works: Intensive Green Roof System
Going through various alterations across the coming centuries, The Tower of London we see today was remodeled in the 1850s by Anthony Salvin and John Taylor in order to restore the gothic, medieval appearance following the Victorians new found interest in the history and architecture of this now globally iconic building.
In 1992 the Tower of London moved into the 20th Century with the installation of a Bauder Intensive Green Roof over the Tower Gift Shop.
This provided an open expanse of turf for the public to sit and enjoy the historic site with the shop beneath. The waterproofing solution fulfilled all of the strict requirements and gave the gift shop a unique appeal to the millions of visitors attracted to the Tower each year.
