THERMASKIRT from DiscreteHeat Co. Ltd. is described as "a stylish, practical and energy efficient alternative to radiators and underfloor heating" in Fires and Fireplaces Magazine.
Designed to look like skirting board, ThermaSkirt radiates heat from warm water passing through pipes that are moulded into the back of the skirting moulding.
ThermaSkirt works with traditional boilers and also with renewables such as heat pumps. Each section of ThermaSkirt panel is joined in the corners with patented push-fit connectors (no soldering or sealants) and then hidden by a complementary colour matched cover. No mitering, no butt and scribe joints and no mastic.
ThermaSkirt comes with a unique top edge seal to allow painting and re-decorating without masking off or 'cutting in' and most designs have a removable cable cover to hide your speaker, data and IT wires out of sight."
Commenting on the potential that ThermaSkirt can offer to retailers in the fireplace sector, Martin Wadsworth, Managing Director of DiscreteHeat, said: "With a large showroom to support and margins being squeezed by internet retailers, it's more important than ever to maximise the value of every sale and every visitor that walks through the door. It's a well-touted fact that it's far easier to sell to an existing or a known customer than to convert a new enquiry into a sale, but many retailers don't seem to appreciate that. By introducing complementary heating products, retailers could double or even triple the value of every sale, without jeopardising the valuable relationships with their existing suppliers or franchises."
"Whilst customers are visiting your showroom with the intention of purchasing a stylish, cosy centre piece for their living room, they're probably also interested in updating their clunky, bulky, ugly radiators in this room and other parts of the house. They have probably earnmarked at least another £1,500 to update their central heating system and they aren't currently thinking of spending that with you!"
ThermaSkirt is available in a wide range of profile styles and colours including white, ivory and oak, and there is also a plain finish that can be painted.
DiscreteHeat's ThermaSkirt has been tested by BSRIA, complies with BS-EN442 and carries the CE mark and the company's website states: "In a like for like test against radiators ThermaSkirt was shown to be at least 13% more energy efficient. With the correct boiler and control system, fuels savings of up to 25% are possible with ThermaSkirt. In test,ThermaSkirt was proven to be the most efficient form of heating, giving the best uniform heat distribution, with only ±1°C variation, compared to a radiator with a massive 13°C variation."
