Client: Erimus Housing
Contractor: Harrison Render Systems
Type of works: supply of weber.therm XM, weber.plast TF and weber.therm XB.
The project brief was to refurbish two high-rise towers as part of Erimus Housing's regeneration programme in Middlesbrough.
The high-performance external wall insulation system weber.therm XM was specified for the two towers in conjunction with a weber.plast TF finish. weber.therm XM, a lightweight insulation system, provided efficient thermal insulation for the buildings and eliminated interstitial condensation by creating a warm wall construction.
The finish coat on the towers was weber.plast TF; an acrylic-based, composite, decorative render which not only gives an attractive finish but also provided the building with durability and resilience against all harsh and exposed weather conditions. In this instance striking shades of Pink and Blue were specified to form a unique and aesthetically-appealing finish.
The ground floor levels of both buildings were refurbished using an additional insulation render system; weber.therm XB. This again is a high-performance external wall insulation system with the same practical advantages as the weber.therm XM but it has an authentic brick slip finish.
