Type of works: Alumasc's silicone render systems have provided a stunning finish to an award-winning dream home in County Durham.
Realised by local Architects PlanArch Design, Tindale Towers is an Art-Deco innovation inspired by owner Mike Keens love of American 1930s architecture. Its striking design is a talking point throughout Bishop Auckland and has recently earned it a coveted Property Oscar, which was awarded at the RICS Annual Renaissance Award Ceremony in April 2008.
Alumascs silicone lightweight render was applied by Alumasc approved contractor, Sykes Specialist Contracting, covering approximately 1,500 sq/m of exterior and interior wall space. The project demanded a perfect finish on a number of different surfaces including a four-storey spiral staircase requirements that could not be met using traditional render systems. Silicone provided consistency and ease of application, resulting in a flawlessly smooth, resilient finish, both inside and out.
Alumascs silicone lightweight renders are suitable for both new-build projects and remodelling of existing facades. They are colour fast, water repellent, highly weather resistant and offer an extensive range of colour options in either rolled or dragged surface textures. In addition to the creative freedom they afford, the renders bring wide-ranging benefits to specifiers, installers and building users. The systems combine the longevity and weather features of render, with an aesthetic vibrancy that complies with modern design and performance requirements, including UV stability and protection against damaging solvents, acids and pollutants within the environment.
Alumascs silicone lightweight renders can also be used as the facing for the company's insulated render systems, as well as being suitable for direct application to solid walls.
