The Turing College Project is 9 blocks of new student accommodation at the university of Kent. It comprises of 797 new student rooms, arranged over a shared cluster of three and four storey apartments and town houses.

EOS has worked in partnership with Astins Ltd to design and supply the accommodation using EOS Light Gauge Steel Framing Load Bearing system to provide a total framing solution for the project.

The EOS system comprised of:

Walls: 100mm light gauge steel structural load bearing walling system for both external and internal walls.
Floors: 250 – 300 deep light gauge steel lattice floor cassettes with 18mm plywood flooring.
Roofs: 300 deep light gauge steel lattice roof cassettes with 18mm plywood roof covering.

The EOS system provided a rapid build lightweight framing solution for the project, which allowed the entire project to be built in less than 12 months to meet the requirements of the client. The project is due to be completed in time to provide accommodation from September 2014.
