Trafford Shopping Mall. Supply and installation of a Taxi waiting shelter.

Client: Trafford Shopping Centre (Peel Holdings Plc)
Job: Taxi waiting shelter
Value: £13,000

The versatile FalcoLite Series originally designed as a cycle shelter has been used for many purposes, including pram store, smoking shelter, football ground shelter, instrument enclosure and at the above location as a taxi pick-up-point waiting shelter.

The simple but effective design allows full light penetration and unrestricted viewing by cctv systems. With each section of 3,000 x 2,540mm structures can be built to any length and be completed with end walls in clear materials or in trespa solid colours. When placed opposite each other shelters can be linked with a central walkway canopy, forming a structure 6,000mm width, as illustrated at the Trafford location.

At the Trafford mall the units were installed in four days into the tarmac surface using pre-cast mounting blocks to obtain a sound and neat finish. The hot-dipped galvanised steel frame was additionally powder coated in Bottle Green (RAL 6007). A polycarbonate canopy material was used in preference to acrylate to provide a high level of damage and/or vandal resistance. The structure was furnished with swing benches from the Falco street furniture range.
