Trimec®, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY, has supplied products for a state-of-the-art, £multi-million development, at a secure mental health unit in Sussex.
The new Centre is a £15m 45-bed expansion of the existing medium secure mental health unit. It provides state of the art facilities for people who need mental health support in a safe environment and meets the latest national standards for security, privacy and dignity.
Based in East Sussex, the hospital features a number of Trimec®s ES8000 V-Locks, on both interior and exterior doors of the unit. Specified thanks to the reliability of the high torque motorised bolt which secures the door, with the V-shaped strike plate pulling the door to align with the lock, the ES8000 also accounts for patient safety.
Trimec®s ES8000 V-Locks are integrated into an access control system, that enables focused management of access to each area (including patients to have manage their own access to their own bedroom area allowing for a degree of autonomy) while ensuring staff and patient safety and security by restricting access where necessary.
David Edwards, of Hafele Architectural Ironmongers, said: We specified Trimec®s V-locks for their reliability. The locks reduce the risk of an electromechanical lock failing to engage, prohibiting unwarranted entry into restricted areas.
The anti-ligature door furniture, combined with the comprehensive CCTV camera system and a number of other features ensures that the hospital staff are able to keep all users of the building safe at all times. Trimec®s V-locks fit into these security considerations and everything in the unit was designed with staff and patient wellbeing in mind.
Simon Wilson, Regional Sales Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, said: The hospital is an exciting new development, meeting a growing demand for mental health services in the area. This was a project with more safety and security considerations than most, but thanks to Hafeles vast experience and knowledge, we were able to work together to meet the considerations with a product to suit.
