Type of works: supply and installation of Kemmlit GmbH cubicle and associated products
The recently opened £17.5m Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate, designed by David Chipperfield Architects, features the leading German manufacture of washroom products. Kemmlit GmbH provided cubicle and associated products, supplied and installed by their UK distributor Skirmett Washrooms.
The project, being the largest art gallery outside London, was completed on budget and on time and provides a stunning visual presence and an excellent cultural resource for the region
In keeping with design requirements the specified Kemmlit Classic Cell Cubicle provided a soft spatial quality with a floating appearance within the washroom area. The system, constructed from unique 42 mm composite panels, was finished in zinc dipped steel with a white reinforced polyester coating. Panel structures also provided optimal sound reduction, whilst increased heights and minimal sized, visually obscured, floor supports ensured increased privacy.
In addition full height modesty panels using the same Cell construction were detailed in conjunction with 13 mm Corian ducting to both cubicle and urinal areas.
Classic Cell is part of an extensive range of products in the Kemmlit portfolio which include cubicle and lockers manufactured from glass, aluminium and solid laminate to TUV quality Standards.
