Two Hardman Street, Manchester

Two Hardman Street is a newly refurbished Grade A office building situated in the heart of Manchester's thriving Spinningfields development. The building is a perfect example of a modern workspace, offering 22,000 sq. ft of high-quality office space across seven storeys. Lead interior designer and architect Bluesky Design had the vision to create a welcoming environment and a relaxed atmosphere with the design prioritising sustainability, wellness, and connectivity of its occupants.

Bluesky collaborated with the main contractor, ADT Workplace, to refurbish and fit out the Grade A office building. Every inch was redesigned to completely transform the interior, most notably the foyer, which now boasts a contemporary reception and social space.

ENTRANCE CONTROL FOR A SHARED SPACE.
Having installed the original Swinglane 900's at Two Hardman Street in 2006 for the Deloitte Group, Bluesky appointed Boon Edam to replace the existing security turnstiles with a more modern and efficient solution. Boon Edam was already familiar with the project and was keen to deliver a bespoke security product a second time around.

The project scope was to deliver a highly-reliable and aesthetically pleasing entrance control solution for the newly refurbished foyer. The reception is a shared space for all building occupants and everyday visitors, so the client required security turnstiles with tailgating detection to prevent unauthorised users from accessing the lift area and other floors within the building. The specification also called for third-party access control integration to mitigate risk and to ensure that only authorised card access is granted.

COMPACT SPEED GATES FOR EFFECTIVE VISITOR MANAGEMENT.
Based on the specification, Boon Edam supplied and installed a bank of 4 Speedlane Compact turnstiles consisting of three standard 615mm lanes and one 915mm wide access lane for wheelchair and delivery access. The positioning and configuration of the turnstiles enable quick and convenient entry for authorised users while also forming a physical barrier in front of the lift area to protect against unwanted intrusion.

The space-efficient Speedlane Compact does not compromise security or style, combining modern aesthetics with state-of-the-art technology. With anti-tailgating and safety sensors as standard features, the Speedlane Compact was the perfect match for the requirements at Two Hardman Street.

With generous space in each cabinet, it was a straightforward process to integrate proximity card readers into all 4 cabinets to provide a high level of authentication. As per the specification, the turnstiles are installed near the reception desk so personnel can easily operate the lanes and grant access to authorised visitors when needed via the BoonTouch access control panel. Personnel can remotely control the 4 lanes using the BoonTouch and are immediately alerted of unauthorised breaches.

BoonTouch is an access control dashboard designed to improve visibility over security speed gates. The BoonTouch gives customers complete control over their entrance products. It is an excellent solution for effective visitor management, with control of both secure and non-secure sides of the security product.
