UK’s largest Winnie-the-Pooh exhibition relies on VDC

The UK’s largest ever exhibition dedicated to Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends relies on an expert audio setup from VDC.

Running at the V&A in London, Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic is a multi-sensory exhibition exploring the characters brought to life by AA Milne and EH Shepard. The UK’s largest ever exhibition dedicated to the bear and his friends, reveals the real people, relationships and inspirations behind the characters through a mixture of sketches, recordings, memorabilia and interactive elements.

Audio is a major part of the exhibition; in the first space entitled A Very Popular Bear, looping video shares early Disney animations, footage and music on a 22in display, while in the Truly Inspired section concealed speakers mimic the author reading his stories aloud to his son.

Further into the exhibition and Inside of Owl’s House, an audio extract from ‘In which Piglet does a Very Grand Thing’ is synchronised with the corresponding narrative text. This is quirkily animated and presented on a 4m single suspended screen with rear projection. More stories are shared in the fourth section of the exhibition, What About a Story, where multiple listening points are positioned throughout the scenery, before visitors move on to a representation of the Hundred Acre Wood complete with authentic soundscape and Poohsticks game.

In order to ensure the audio setup was reliable and able to operate in this demanding environment, 500m speaker cable and 500m audio cable from VDC Trading was specified.
