The billion metre milestone in manufacturing high quality multilayer composite pipes (MLCP) underlines Uponor’s know-how and experience as a plastic piping specialist.
When Uponor introduced its first multilayer composite pipe in 1990, it was a major innovation, combining the advantages of both metal and plastic pipes in one product. Since then, Uponor has continuously worked on improving multilayer pipes as well as offering integrated installation systems with intelligent fittings, tools and accessories. In November 2015, the production milestone of one billion metres of multilayer pipe was reached at Uponor’s manufacturing site in Zella-Mehlis, Germany.
“Multilayer pipes were a real game changer when they entered the market 25 years ago. They offered both, bendability and stability, which made them the ideal pipes for hygienic drinking water delivery as well as radiator connections and radiant heating and cooling,” explains Mark Dowdeswell, Plumbing Application Manager at Uponor UK.
With one billion metres of multilayer pipe produced and currently introducing the new SACP generation in international markets, Uponor impressively underlines its position as leader in high quality multilayer pipes.
