VELFAC contribute to ‘transformational regeneration project’

VELFAC glazing has been installed at the award winning Erith Park development in South London, described by architects Broadway Malyan as a ‘transformational regeneration project’.

VELFAC composite aluminium / wood glazing is installed across Erith Park, with large glazed units and casement doors prominent features in the facades of both housing and apartment blocks.

Excellent thermal performance

The low U-values offered by standard VELFAC glazing helped Erith Park achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. Triple glazed units were also specified for key locations to provide higher performance acoustic insulation – vital for higher density living. All opening window units are reversible, to allow cleaning from the inside, while the external aluminium frame needs no repainting for the lifetime of the window unit.

Ideal for housing developments

The VELFAC composite system is ideal for residential developments as it offers excellent durability and low maintenance performance, combined with a slim frame designed to maximise natural light. The inner wood frame is highly popular with residents for its warmth and character, while excellent insulation also means no cold spots or draughts, allowing full use of floorspace right up to the glass.

Erith Park is now considered a catalyst for regeneration across the area and as a result was named RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) 2016 London Regeneration Project of the Year; the project was also shortlisted for a 2016 National Housing Award.
