Venesta Quantum toilet cubicles at BMAG washroom refurbishment

The Project

With over 40 galleries to explore displaying art, applied art, social history, archaeology and ethnography, the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is a fantastic place to visit. It houses part of the largest Pre-Raphaelite painting collection in the world and offers a series of changing exhibitions throughout the year.

With so much going on, foot traffic is not surprisingly very heavy so the gallery decided it was time for a washroom upgrade to accommodate their many visitors.

The Challenge

A Grade II listed landmark building located in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, The Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (BMAG) is a world class museum which first opened its doors in 1885.

As well as accommodating a high volume of visitors daily, the BMAG also offers regular Venue Hire.

Due to their previous washrooms looking washed out and tired, the BMAG needed sturdy new washroom facilities that were built to last and suitable for use by all visitors; from babies and small children, to adults and disabled customers.

The Solution

Venesta’s Quantum toilet cubicles were specified for all phases of the washrooms development, along with solid surface vanity units and Vepps Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) panelling systems with pre-plumbed SanCeram sanitaryware.

With a sculpted headrail and a sleek floating appearance, Venesta’s Quantum toilet cubicle range sets the benchmark for washrooms. Fittings are available in a choice of Light Grey powder coated aluminium or smoke ABS with doors, pilasters and partitions available in 34 colours, giving complete flexibility.

Venesta’s Quantum toilet cubicles are available in MFC, HPL and SGL, meaning that the flexibility doesn’t end with the colour. Quantum SGL toilet cubicles are extremely resistant to impact and also totally impervious to water, the perfect washroom solution for environments with a heavy traffic flow, such as the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.

Venesta’s revolutionary, fully engineered Vepps pre-plumbed panelling system meant installation was quick and easy, with panel heights complying with the listed status of the building.

The SanCeram sanitaryware was pre-fitted and tested in Venesta’s factory, meaning that the Vepps panels could be click-fixed into place in no time at all.

High strength linear-bearing hinges provide smooth movement and allow panels to be positioned at different heights, so maintenance of the washroom facilities couldn’t be simpler.
