Aston Martin sports cars are renowned for their powerful, sleek lines and smooth, gleaming finish. Now, exactly the same attributes are being applied to the premises of Aston Martin dealers through the use of premium facade render products from Weber.

The most recent location to be re-styled in line with the Aston Martin corporate identity is the Stratstone dealership on the Kidderminster Road in Hagley, Birmingham. The design policy calls for a clean, level facade in plane relief but these traditional brick premises had various stepped surfaces in relief brickwork.

Consultation between main contractor Davlyn Construction and Nick Eaton of Weber determined the corrective process, which was skilfully applied by Walltec Ltd where Regional Director Paul Roles is proud of the dramatic visual change. “The Weber system has changed a typical 60/70s building into a modern, stylish showroom,” says Paul.

The weber.therm XM external wall insulation (EWI) system was used to compensate for the varied brick substrate levels to give the uniform plane surface required. Insulation of varying thickness from 30 to 140mm was required to level out the surface depths of the existing brickwork of the 700m² facade. The weber.therm EWI system was finished with weber.plast TF150 for a perfect and highly durable finish.

“Whilst the insulation system delivers thermal benefits the main aim of the application was to achieve a uniform level facade to improve and modernise the image of the premises in line with Aston Martin’s elegant style,” says Nick Eaton, Deputy Facades Regional Manager, Weber.

weber.therm XM EWI is a high performance external wall insulation system protected by meshcloth reinforced polymer renders. The BBA approved system is perfectly suited to the Aston Martin project to re-model the existing, old style facade.

weber.plast TF150 is an acrylic based, composite decorative finish which is delivered pre-mixed from the factory to ensure colour continuity. weber.plast TF is available in a wide variety of colours and has an even textured finish.

The result is a magnificent, gleaming facade that has transformed the visual appearance of the premises into modern, stylish buildings.
