Client: Commercial Union Properties (UK) Ltd
Architect: Allen Johnsen Associates
Contractor: Waring Contractors Ltd
Structural engineer: Peter Brett Associates
Type of works: supply of stone copings, window heads and string course.
Reconstituted Portland stone was used to create all the decorative copings, window heads and string course to this modern, high-tech HQ office building. Apart from the highly visible part of this contract, PD Edenhall also manufactured and installed the structural precast concrete support panels for all the upper floor brickwork. Those panels were over 7,500 long and 1,600 high however were only 140 thick. Handling both in the factory and on site needed to be closely monitored to prevent unacceptable stresses. Again, a package of manufacture, haul and install helped the customer to avoid being caught in the middle between several contracts.
