Spring and Box Sash windows are both elegant options for your property or home. Both have a classic feel and can work in both traditional and modern properties.
What is a sash window?
A sash window is a timeless classic and is made from two sashes, with one positioned in front of the other. They work by sliding up or down.
What is a spring sash window?
The spring sash window is a modern day alternative of the cord & weighted box sash window. It uses a concealed spring loaded mechanism instead of the cords, weights and pulleys found in a traditional sash window. This has the advantage of allowing for a smaller structural rebate or installing into a flush reveal.
What is a box sash window?<
A Box Sash Window uses cords, weights and pulleys to counter balance the sashes in the traditional way. Typically a Box Sash Window would be set back in a rebated reveal construction so that the box is mostly hidden by the external brick or stone although it can also be seen positioned close to the face of the brickwork with the box on show and dressed with an architrave.
All sash windows in our Conservation range are high performing, perfect for keeping your property thermally efficient, quiet and safe.
Child restrictors provide peace of mind for families and sash hook catches and concealed barrel locks ensure optimum security, designed to meet PAS24 requirements as standard.
What sash window would suit my property?
Aesthetically and from a performance and security perspective, spring and box sash windows are very similar. They both have an elegant, classic look, designed to compliment buildings old and new.
However, if you live in a sensitive conservation area or own a listed building with stricter planning requirements, our Heritage box sash would be a perfect fit. This is single glazed in the traditional way, using putty and true glazing bars, which are available in a variety of glazing bar sizes and profiles.
