What to do if screed is not drying [Blog]

A blog written by ForceDry

What are you currently doing to dry it and what external factors could be changed to improve the environment?

Simple changes can make a huge difference. Making the room airtight by closing windows and doors, getting the ambient temperature up to the screed’s ideal conditions, creating good airflow around the room and managing the humidity will dry the screed more effectively.

These changes can all be created during a Force Drying Programme.

Specialist Electric Boilers can be used to create ambient heat in conjunction with an existing heating system through the radiators or they can be connected to the Under Floor Heating and used in a series of processes such as to dry, and commission and condition the screed.

Air moving fans can be introduced to circulate air around the room, moving dry air over the screed and moving humid air away. Pairing these up with a high-powered dehumidifier is the best way to manage the humidity within the room. Most screeds need the same conditions to dry effectively, usually a constant ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and an atmospheric humidity of 60% throughout the drying process.

Creating these conditions is relatively simple but relying on weather conditions to create it can really let the projects schedule slip away even during the summer months, using a Force Drying Programme can create such conditions and push the project on.
