WILA luminaires for prestigious London building

WILA has supplied luminaires for the refurbishment of a floor in the prestigious 5 New Street Square building in the City of London as part of a Category A fit out. Working closely in conjunction with lighting designers GIA Equation, WILA was able to offer the best solution with its Avic® fittings.

New Street Square is a RIBA award winning office and retail development by Land Securities with an Excellent BREEAM rating. Lighting for this area was originally installed in 2008 using 1x21W DALI 900mm louvered air handling luminaires in continuous lines which provided an average illuminance of 400 Lux. Electrical consultants GIA Equation were employed to upgrade the lighting and replace the ceiling to provide a more modern feel. A number of luminaires were mocked up at GIA Equations offices for consideration and the WILA solution was chosen as the preferred option fast track project.

WILA fulfilled the new solution using 2x28W replacement tile (1350 x 300mm) Avic® air handling luminaires on a 3.9m chequer-board layout. Conical de-glaring microprism optics were used which reduces direct and reflected lamp glare by 40% when compared to louvered luminaires. This new solution provides over 500 lux with an installed electrical load of just 1.67 W/m2/100 lux, including perimeter WILA E Connect Nero Power LED downlights and WILA E Connect core wall-washing.
