Type of works: safety barrier and column protection units for multi-storey car park and service yard.
As the Great Wall of China attests, the Chinese know a thing or two about barriers. But when the Wing Yip Cash and Carry in Manchester needed safety barriers for their multi-storey car park they turned to the UKs acknowledged experts, Berry Systems. The project involved nearly 900m of barrier rail mounted on Berrys patented spring steel buffers. Sixteen Column Protection Units were specified to avoid damage to lighting columns and balustrading and the project also included heavy-duty open box beam for the service yard, where protection from HGVs had to be considered.
The car park is available to staff, customers and suppliers of all the businesses in the complex which, as well as the Cash and Carry, includes a Chinese Restaurant and a legal practice. The design style reflects an oriental theme giving this multi-storey car park a unique personality.
Berry Systems supplied:
47m of Open Box Beam on Heavy Duty Spring Steel OBB Buffers for Service Yard at 1,200mm centres.
16 x Column Protection Units, various sizes to suit.
