Type of works: design, supply and installation of Leaderflush Shapland Plasform® post-formed doorsets and Plasform® Extended Performance x-ray doorsets.
Dda NHS Trust has completed a new Accident and Emergency Unit for the Withybush Hospital. The new £10.9million A&E unit consists of a nineteen-bed adult clinical decision unit, two operating theatre suites and 5 treatment rooms giving immediate access to primary medical and surgical assessment treatment and care. The new A&E unit is one of the most modern developments in Wales and means 50,000 more patients can be treated a year.
275 Leaderflush Shapland Plasform® post-formed doorsets were specified for the new Withybush Hospital A&E unit. The doorsets provide up to 60-minutes fire resistance and were faced in Shiraz, Emerald and Bottle Green Hygieniform, Leaderflush Shapland’s extremely effective high impact PVC facing material, which contains an antimicrobial additive that kills most harmful bacteria including C.diff, MRSA, Salmonella and E.coli: ideal in healthcare environments where infection control is a major concern. X-ray doorsets from the Plasform® Extended Performance range were also specified to provide radiation protection in accordance with the National Radiological Protection Board’s guidance.
The use of radiused vertical edges to door leaves and all frame edges, and the post forming of facings around them, is an integral part of the Plasform® concept. This gives a distinctive appearance as well as easy to clean, damage resistant and ergonomically friendly surfaces. The Plasform® range has four distinct product groups Plasform® Original, Plasform® Extended Performance, Plasform® Unique and Plasform® WR, all suitable for healthcare environments.
