Client: Woodford Green and Essex Ladies Athletic Club
Type of works: design and installation of indoor training area.
Useful Structures was asked to design and supply, within a limited budget, an indoor training arena for use during winter or bad weather. The new building had to be completed prior to the start of replacing the existing 6 lane outdoor track with a new 8 lane track. The design had to facilitate sprints, hurdles, high jump and throwing events. Due to the restricted budget, the design of a relocation building, intended entirely for indoor use, provided the best value for money rather than completely redesigning the existing athletics facility.
The building has provided the much-needed indoor training facility with the added benefit of a translucent roof covering which reduces the need to use lighting during daylight hours.
Ted Wilsher, Project Manager of the Woodford Green Athletics Club said, "It was essential we only progressed our project with a solution that was affordable. Useful Structures provided all the technical and financial input enabling us to achieve a very successful scheme, within time and budget."
