World Cup Contract for Booth Industries

Booth Industries Limited of Bolton, UK have been awarded a contract for the design, engineering, construction and delivery of specialist door assemblies for South Africa’s Gautrain Project in Johannesburg.

The current value of the contract is €840,000 and brings the total value of global contracts secured by Booth Infrastructure to over €13,700,000.

Gautrain is a gigantic rapid rail link project, forming part of the infrastructure upgrades planned for completion prior to the 2010 World Cup Soccer Competition.

Booth Infrastructure will supply:-

Tunnel Emergency Escape Door Assemblies, comprising of 8 double leaf sliding panel doors designed to withstand pressures of ±10 kPa and meet a fire integrity requirement of 60 minutes.

Intervention Shaft Door Assemblies, comprising of 15 double and single leaf hinged emergency escape doors designed to withstand pressures of ±5kPa and meet the Hydro Carbon Fire Test Curve for a period of 120 minutes and 40 double leaf hinged doors designed to withstand pressures of ±5kPa to satisfy a fire integrity requirement of 120 minutes.?

With Booth Commercial Door Products providing:-

Intervention Shaft Door Assemblies, comprising of 31 double and single leaf hinged door assemblies designed to meet a fire integrity requirement of 120 minutes.

All doors in the tunnels and shafts have to meet the specified opening and arresting forces against the operating differential pressures in the tunnels.

The door assemblies will be supplied from the Bolton UK plant.

The Contractor has the option of utilising a specially trained Booth Supervisor to assist their Engineers during the installation period.
