Xpelair and Fläkt Woods Form A Strategic Alliance

Xpelair (now part of the Glen Dimplex Group) and Fläkt Woods have announced a strategic trading agreement, whereby the two organisations will offer market access and routes to distribution for each other’s products.

This strategic alliance provides benefits for both organisations; Xpelair widens distribution to specialist markets and gains support for meeting the requirements of more specialist HEVAC projects. Fläkt Woods will have access to domestic/commercial fans and systems solutions for major projects.

The relationship builds on historic trading arrangements both companies have enjoyed for many years in overseas markets, where Xpelair and Fläkt Woods share many distributors. Whilst now under different ownership, the two companies share a common heritage. In the 1950s the Xpelair domestic/commercial ranges originated in Woods of Colchester, formerly part of GEC. Xpelair later moved to Birmingham and in 1999 to Peterborough where it continues to grow in the UK and internationally.

This alliance provides customers of Fläkt Woods with access to a complete product package for the building service sector to meet all their requirements. Commenting on the deal Allan Hurdle, Fläkt Woods Managing Director said “Fläkt Woods is proud to extend its offer with Xpelair fans. Manufactured in the UK to the highest quality standards for reliability and performance, Xpelair products are ideal for installations in bathrooms, kitchens, offices and commercial buildings. The product offering ranges from 100mm axial fans to larger in-line duct fans and associated ventilation products. Many of the recently developed products are to SAP Appendix Q1 and listed as best in class products”.

Xpelair products will be distributed through Fläkt Woods’ Express Range catalogue, as well as via the Company’s extensive network of sales specialists dealing with specifiers and contractors.

John Lee, CEO, of Xpelair said “The two sales organisations already cooperate commercially in several continents. This alliance builds on this strong relationship offering benefits to both companies and wider product availability to the ventilation market as a whole. The two businesses reach different core markets each with their own distribution networks. The alliance draws on our combined strengths to maximise market opportunities in the UK and internationally. This venture provides a high quality of customer service and products designed and built in the UK”.

1 Appendix Q of SAP is the route through which information, including, but not limited to product performance data, is made available to energy performance assessors that was not available when SAP was published. It is also the means by which test and calculation methodologies can be agreed that can be used to measure product performance and when how that performance can be treated in SAP.
