YMCA

Client: YMCA
Type of works: re-design and refurbishment of an existing unisex washroom into separate male and female areas.

The most important thing for IGLOOS to consider with this project was that the new design was to include the replacement of the baths with showers, whilst overcoming the problematic drainage and plumbing connections.

IGLOOS design team created a new layout to maximise the washrooms efficiency. This included reviewing the average ratio of male to female users occupying the City YMCA.

Works involved removing the existing interior fixtures and fittings to create a starting shell. This helped to eradicate and solve many of the past problems experienced by the washrooms users and the management team of City YMCA.

Surfaces were prepared and primed where necessary for the fitting and installation of IGLOOS durable design.

The use of solid grade laminate (SGL) throughout was specified to meet the needs of the building, whilst offering a high-quality design finish. Its robust qualities against chemical and physical corrosion will help the washroom in its maintenance of its cleanliness and design.

The old baths were replaced with the installation of showers, creating a more efficient and environmentally-friendly washroom.

IGLOOS design team considered multiple angles of design such as layouts, materials and overall aesthetics that combined to create a far more pleasing environment for the intended users and buildings management.
