Reynaers have provided a London-based architect with the opportunity to visualise his project in virtual reality through Avalon - a 3D virtual reality cave - installed at Reynaers head office in Belgium.

Having won a competition organised by Reynaers, Adam Kimber, a Senior Architect as Mountford Pigott, will be able to step into his own project as part of an overnight trip to Belgium.

With virtual reality influencing almost every industry, Reynaers Aluminium has installed Avalon – a 3D virtual reality cave – at its head office in Belgium. Radically changing how the design of a building is evaluated and visualised, Avalon turns architectural 3D models into virtual models which can be stepped in to. Once inside, architects and their clients can navigate through different spaces and review any aspect of the design by adjusting room dimensions, building elements, colours and materials – all in real time.

Interested in technology and how this impacts designers and architects, Adam Kimber said: “Being able to walk around one of my own designs and share my ideas with others has long been a dream of mine. Now technology has caught up with that dream, making this a very exciting time for architects.”
