Bathroom Trends for 2023

Bathroom Trends for 2023

The bathroom has become a special place in the house. Once just a functional necessity, it is now an essential living area that provides sanctuary and allows us to escape and relax after a long day at work.

Marble surfaces, natural colours, and wetrooms (once only reserved for plush hotels) were the trends of 2022. But what are the bathroom trends for 2023?

Klaus Kaufmann is the Export Manager of shower drainage manufacturer, Dallmer. Here, he gives his insight into what styles and elements you can expect to see in bathrooms and wetrooms during 2023.

Bathrooms will evoke luxury
The modern bathroom has become a high-use area. Many of us use this room at least twice a day, and some experts suggest that women spend about 30 minutes a day in this space. As a result, one trend we will see much more of in 2023 is an at-home spa-like atmosphere.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a growing necessity for bathrooms to help us relax and maintain clear boundaries between the home office and a place to escape.

Spa-like luxury tiles, fixtures, and fittings will be complemented by biophilia – the integration and inclusion of nature as a focal point. Creating a rich, sensory link with nature is becoming extremely popular. A biophilic bathroom design will boast certain patterns that reduce stress and improve creativity while featuring forms and materials that emulate those found in the great outdoors.

Less is more
This next trend helps to enhance the luxurious spa-like bathroom atmosphere. We will see interior designers adopting a minimalist design approach, free from distractions, to help create the desired serene and peaceful environment.

Using neutral colour palettes combined with crisp, clear lines and clever storage to hide away accessories will give the illusion of space - even in the smallest of bathrooms. In the shower, for example, an innovative short channel with a tileable cover blends seamlessly into the shower surface. Plus, a minimalist approach makes a bathroom easier to clean – particularly beneficial when leading a busy life!

A fusion of Japan and Scandinavia
In the past, Scandinavia has heavily influenced the design and style of bathrooms. In 2023, bathroom designers will take inspiration from Japandi – a sweet spot of Scandinavian and Japanese styles. This look features natural materials such as wood to bring warmth into a space and create a peaceful sanctuary with a relaxed, subdued, earthy feel. Perfect for allowing the mind to wander.

Black is the new black
Over the years, trends have steered away from ‘traditional’ black. But black has always been the colour that stands out in bathroom design.

A bathroom in black creates a special atmosphere. It comes across as noble, elegant, and sophisticated. A monochrome design makes bathrooms appear extensive and profound, enhancing the luxury and feel-good factor. In 2023, we’ll see lots of monochrome in the bathroom, including the décor, accessories, fixtures, and fittings. Black shower channels can be particularly eye-catching.

High-quality shower drainage products
Innovative and high-quality sanitary drainage solutions will also be the perfect component in the modern bathroom in 2023. Using effective and reliable drainage products from the outset will prevent any unpleasant issues for the occupant that would otherwise occur from poor drainage.

Inadequate drainage will most certainly ruin that tranquil ambience you are trying to create.
