Bespoke steel windows and doors by Clement installed in one of London’s most iconic streets

Charing Cross Road in Central London connects Trafalgar Square in the South to Tottenham Court Road in the North. It is one of the capital’s most well-known streets and always bustling!

The lower three floors of 30 Charing Cross Road have recently undergone major structural works, ready to house a new commercial tenant. The basement, ground and first floors have been altered to form a new three storey restaurant and retail unit.

As the building is within the Covent Garden Conservation Area and set in a busy London setting this was no easy feat! Due to the historical significance of the building the use of replacement genuine steel windows and doors - just like the originals - was a condition of the renovation.

Clement products were the right choice for this prestige building. Clement W40 steel profiles were used to make the arched head steel windows on the first floor and Jansen Economy 50 cold rolled steel sections were perfect for the beautifully detailed doors on the ground floor.

Architect Nathan Hodges said: "Clement are always our first choice when it comes to steel framed glazing systems, they consistently provide an excellent service from initial design through to installation on site. The end product is always of the highest quality. At 30 Charing Cross Road, the building has been totally transformed by the traditionally detailed shopfronts and first floor display glazing - we have a very happy client as a result“.
