CEMEX were approached by Irvine Whitlock to be the supplier of Dry Silo Mortar for the redevelopment of Wembley Park. CEMEX were able to provide a durable and resistant mortar, that met both Irvine Whitlock’s short and long term needs.

The client and architect, Irvin Whitlock, required a white mortar to match the surrounding buildings. The developers at the site, at Wembley Stadium, considered that it was essential that the right shade of white used in the redevelopment was achieved.

Pre-start meetings were with CEMEX to discuss what products and solutions they could provide. During engagement meetings with Irvin Whitlock, CEMEX were able to gain an understanding of the customer’s needs, whilst ensuring that the aesthetics of the buildings were maintained. During the discussions it was agreed that CEMEX’s Dry Silo Mortar (DSM) was the ideal solution for the job as it met all customer’s requirements.

During the project, CEMEX continually worked closely with their customer, explaining the product technical information. Site visits were put in place to discuss service improvements and safety.

The solution was to provide the customer with specific materials that fulfilled the requirements. For example, M6 Dove White. Bulk DSM Silo’s were provided for 100% of the job. Dove White was chosen as the preferred mortar for the project due to its natural aesthetics. The consistency of the products properties had come from the utilisation of a high quality factory production.

The advantage of using DSM for this particular project was to provide strength, durability and, most importantly, the aesthetics for the structure of the building(s). Not only does the product provide site productivity but the aesthetics of the material meets the customer’s desire to keep the consistency of the infrastructures around the development.

Overall, silos were considered the best option as there is little wastage produced and the process is quicker using this product. CEMEX ensured the colour was right the first time, every time, avoiding extra costs and reduced time. The coloured mortar matched the existing buildings and produced the correct architectural contrast to the surrounding area.
