Concrete repair from Ronacrete for Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth

Concrete repair from Ronacrete for Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth

The tower block nursing accommodation at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth was in need of concrete repair and protection after corrosion of the steel reinforcement and the resulting expansion of the bars had caused spalling of the concrete.

Ronacrete Approved Contractor Constructive Solutions carried out patch repairs to the concrete ring beams and to infill panels on the façade using RonaBond HB40 high build repair mortar. Ronafix Pre-packed Render/ Screed was used to provide a render finish to the concrete.

Ronacrete offered on site support and regular checks on work progression as requested by the client and specifier, enabling the issue of a 10-year warranty on the products used.

RonaBond HB40 is a pre-packed high build, medium strength repair mortar for repairing concrete and protecting reinforcing steel. It is used to repair concrete facades and soffits, where its combination of ease of application and strength makes it an ideal product. RonaBond HB40 can be applied in thick-section layers up to 50-75mm on walls and 30-50mm on soffits, maximum layer thickness is dependant on the size of a repair.

Ronafix Pre-packed Render/Screed is a high strength polymer modified mortar for thin section, high strength weatherproof renders. It is ideal for producing a fair faced finish to concrete surfaces which are too uneven for a typical fairing coat.
