CUPA PIZARRAS had its first slate training and CPD day in Scotland, ran by CUPA’s Specification and Commercial Manager, Allan Liddell.
This slate training and CPD day is a great opportunity for specifiers to understand the hard work that goes into slate roofing, and Surveying Solutions Ltd were the first attendees.
Allan Liddell said: “By arming architects with more in-depth knowledge of slate and installation of the product, architects will be able to prevent problems onsite easily, as they will be able to identify slate that has not been graded properly or any incorrect installations.”
The first part of the day was a practical training on selecting and grading, measuring the roof pitch, checking the headlap and fixing the slates onto a training rig.
The second part of the training was the RIBA approved CPD seminar which focuses on the characteristics and benefits of natural slate and its production process. This theorical part also covered design specification, slate’s sustainability and a selection of case studies.
During the training part, the attendees worked with CUPA HEAVY 3, the brand’s bestselling slate in Scotland. A lot was learnt during the training and CPD day and attendees were very satisfied.
