Type of works: Eco 50 doors and windows
Futuristic in design and build Nottingham Academy is a modern, high technology environment across three separate campuses and makes extensive use of Reynaers architectural aluminium systems.
A combination of state-of-the-art new build and remodelled and fully refurbished teaching accommodation with facilities for 3,600 children aged 3 to 19, makes it the largest academy in Europe.
On the build Reynaers Eco 50 doors and windows combine aesthetic styling to complement the modern design of the academy whilst meeting the latest thermal insulation requirements. They also incorporate high security features and are fully compliant with the Secured by Design scheme bringing additional security to the different campuses.
Suitable for high usage in busy thoroughfares with low maintenance and excellent performance Vision 50 doors also feature on all the main entrances.
Adding to the clean, modern design throughout the campuses and facilitating maximum light penetration Reynaers CW50 curtain wall system is used on the main façade of a number of the buildings. To offer safety and security in the event of a fire CW50 FP fire resistant curtain wall system is also installed. Its use aids the development of fire resistant corridors to facilitate the safe evacuation of buildings and is widely used in applications where large numbers of people are present, such as educational establishments with high occupancy levels.
Trent Valley Window and Door Company Ltd successfully carried out the fabrication and installation to extremely tight time deadlines for main contractor Carillion, as part of its inspired spaces schools partnership, allowing the project to be completed on time. Architects on the project were Franklin Ellis Architects.
