When you order VectorMap Local in CAD format through CentremapsLive, road casing is applied automatically.
Rather than displaying roads as a single line, the output uses a road casing style that clearly defines the carriageway. This creates a cleaner, more readable base map that's ready to use straight away.
Imagine you're designing a new site access or planning a utility connection alongside an existing road. A single line provides little context, whereas road casing gives a clearer visual representation of the highway, making it easier to position proposed features and understand their relationship to the surrounding road network.
It's important to note that the road casing is provided for cartographic purposes to improve the readability and usability of the mapping. It should not be interpreted as the precise physical edge of the carriageway and is not intended for engineering measurement or determining exact road extents.
There's no need to apply additional CAD styling yourself. Every VectorMap Local CAD order from CentremapsLive includes road casing as standard, saving time and delivering mapping that's ready for design from the moment it's downloaded.
We also offer raster and PDF (with layers) outputs if you're looking for ready to go cartographic versions.
If you're looking for road edges which have been mapped then OS MasterMap Topographic layer is recommended.
This simple enhancement was originally requested by one of our customers a few years ago. We listen to customer feedback and continually look for ways to improve our products and workflows.
Is there a styling enhancement or new product you'd like to see from Centremaps? We'd love to hear your ideas.
