Nu-Heat has provided a zoned underfloor heating solution with an integrated 10kW air source heat pump for a new, two-storey, oak-framed eco home. The chance discovery of a rural plot near the village of Trottiscliffe in Kent, sparked the start of a self-build adventure for Gordon and Joyce Perrie.
The plot came with planning permission for a 2,000ft2 detached house, but rather than sticking with the design set out by the existing planning, Gordon and Joyce went back to the drawing board to create their vision. The result was an ‘upside-down’ (bedrooms on the ground floor, kitchen and living areas upstairs), oak-framed, eco house, set into the hill with a glazed frontage that makes the most of the site’s stunning panoramic views.
Gordon and Joyce were keen to make their new home as efficient as possible, and chose to team an air source heat pump with underfloor heating. Gordon said "“We liked the fact that Nu-Heat did the entire system design in-house themselves. The support and information that we received from them before, during and after the installation was really good.”
Gordon continued "The Nu-Heat Registered Installers did a great job. The underfloor heating installation didn’t cause any disruption to the rest of the build, and the heat pump installation and commissioning also went well.”
