John Lewis Kingston has revamped its store using Dulux Trade Scuffshield Matt to ensure long lasting scuff protection in their busy retail space. The Scuff Resistant Technology is perfect to guard against the potential damage from bags, shoes and other items that bump against the walls - all too inevitable in a crowded store.
After attending an online launch webinar in July 2020, Nicola Bover, Partner & Design Interiors at John Lewis, felt that Dulux Trade Scuffshield Matt would be ideal for the upcoming work planned at the Kingston store.
Nicola Bover explained:
“The new Dulux Trade Scuffshield Matt paint is perfect for our stores. Not only does the redesign make our interiors more interesting and appealing to our customers, but the resilience of the paint means that it will last longer in our stores.”
“The team at Dulux were incredibly helpful when we looked to redesign using their paint. They listened carefully to what we said we needed from a visual point of view, and how we wanted our store to operate. But most importantly, we felt they really took on board how we wanted our customers to feel and the experience they have in the shop. We’re renowned for our service, quality and attention to detail - from our staff to the buildings we work in - so it’s important that our suppliers understand that. As a result, Jayne and her team gave us superb advice about how to optimise our design through the specification and colour scheme ideas, making the whole experience as easy as possible.”
Extended maintenance cycles
The team chose a striking shade of blue, Heritage Deep Ultramarine, to enhance the link bridge between two internal sides of the Kingston John Lewis store. The flagship Dulux Trade product has been precision-engineered to provide the ultimate in scuff resistance - offering performance up to six times better than standard matt wall paint and up to three times better than a standard durable matt - meaning maintenance cycles can be extended.
Durable and superior scuff resistant formulation
Its durability and superior scuff resistant formulation can also help drive down costs in the long-term, as it doubles the length of the maintenance cycle in comparison to standard emulsion. Jayne Roughan, National Sector Manager Retail recommended Dulux Trade Scuffshield Matt for this project.
Jayne said: “Using the correct paint for high traffic areas of the store is vital. Customers want to be in an environment that feels clean and luxurious, and ensuring the finish consistently gives this impression is crucial. “Dulux Trade Scuffshield Matt provided a new, additional option for this retail space because it is so robust and can take knocks in its stride”.
