Window fabricator and installer partners attended a dedicated CE marking seminar, one of a number held by Reynaers Aluminium, presented by Technical Director John McComb.
Developed to provide a detailed guide through the complexities of the impending legislation, due to come into force in July, the recent seminar was attended by over 20 representatives.
John cut through the detail to deliver an uncomplicated, step by step guide to the requirements and responsibilities of manufacturers and fabricators, with regard to CE marking, explaining the method of cascading Initial Type Testing (ITT) data. A full list of CE Passports was made available to attendees, along with dedicated manuals, which will enable fabricators to complete product Declarations of Performance (DoP). Only when theyve completed the DoP will they be able to CE mark.
John explained the procedures that start with ITT, where all the relevant elements are tested to ensure they comply with the appropriate standards. Next he covered the Factory Production Control (FPC) that ensures products are manufactured as per Reynaers fabrication procedures and that they meet performance criteria identified as part of the DoP.
The presentation covered the DoP and the information that this needs to contain such as essential characteristics and intended use of the product.
In the presentations we show our partners that all the testing and preparation has been completed by Reynaers, explained John McComb. The Reynaers model stipulates that there must be an agreement between Reynaers and the fabricator which, in turn, gives them full rights to use the CE Passports.
In Europe we have been using CE marking for a considerable time and there really is not any great mystique. It really is straightforward, commonsense. Should there be any confusion then we are always here to support our fabricator and installer partners.
A question and answer session concluded the seminar with attendees leaving, not only fully up-to-date with procedures, but confident with all the data provided by Reynaers.
