Flexible floor tiles/sheets: slip-resistant

Polyflor

Slip resistance is a key specification requirement for safety floors in areas with risks of contaminant spillages and where underfoot safety is imperative. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) also points to other aspects that need to be considered during floor specification when undertaking an initial risk assessment of the floor's slip potential.

These aspects include: the type of footwear used on the specific flooring, drainage and expected floor contaminants, likely maintenance regimes as well as how the floor is used by pedestrians, including individual gaits and human behaviour. The HSE stipulates that two slip resistance test methods should be used in conjunction with each other to assess the slipperiness of floors. These are the Pendulum Wet Test and the Surface Roughness Test and Polyflor adheres closely to this HSE Guidance by ensuring that Polysafe floor coverings meet the requirements of these test methods and are classified as offering low slip potential.
