Freestanding Barrial V Edge Protection Installed at Grove Street Residential Blocks, Liverpool

Freestanding Barrial V Edge Protection Installed at Grove Street Residential Blocks, Liverpool

Dani Alu UK has successfully supplied and installed freestanding, non-penetrating Barrial V roof edge protection for four large residential blocks in the heart of Liverpool. Delivered on behalf of the Regenda Group by Dani Alu UK in collaboration with M and Y Maintenance and Construction, the project showcases the innovative Barrial V system, combining safety, design, and heritage sensitivity without compromising the roof covering.

The system protects 120 linear metres of roof edge across the rooftops of the blocks, providing secure maintenance only access while preserving the integrity of the buildings’ winter gardens. Designed to meet the highest standards, the freestanding edge protection fully complies with BS13700:2021 for permanent counterweighted guard rail systems, ensuring safe, long-lasting performance.

The Barrial V system allows designers to move away from traditional two horizontal bar scaffold looking systems. Its vertical railing design, inspired by traditional cast iron systems, is ideal for conservation areas, or projects requiring a high-end look. Lightweight aluminium construction and powder coated finishes, in this case RAL 7021 Black Grey, make the system both visually appealing and durable.

Additional benefits include the use of 100% recycled PVC counterweights, minimising cold bridging and sound transfer, while ensuring no metal meets the roof surface. This protects roof coverings from damage while reducing cold bridging and sound transmission. The result is a robust, compliant edge protection solution that balances safety, sustainability, and design.
