Novum Structures has designed a glass facade for a new building at The College of Charleston. The College wanted to create a new building for their School of Business and Economics to collect all of the components of their Business School curriculum that were scattered across campus and place them under one roof.
The architect wanted the building to resonate the characteristics of a typical Charleston property, which often contain piazzas and gardens illuminated with natural light.
To achieve this objective, the architect contacted Novum to design a 57 ft high point supported glass facade that would allow natural light to flow through the building’s main entrance. Tension rods attach to horizontal trusses to support the dead load.
