A new 35,000 sq ft state-of-the art Volkswagen retail centre was built at Matford Green Business Park in Exeter. The showroom showcases Volkswagen’s vehicle retail concept which focuses on clean interiors and delivering an improved customer experience. The design of the centre creates a landmark entrance to the new business park.

Modern Design

Designed by SRA Architects, the new development has space for 22 cars in the showroom, a 15 bay workshop, customer sales and arrivals area, a large used car display area plus additional parking capacity on a roof deck.

This is a low energy, sustainable building, achieved by the architects with a range of design measures including photovoltaic panels, a sustainable urban drainage system and by maximising natural light in the building.

Contemporary Open Plan Look

SRA Architects chose the Lusso 25 system for the project to enhance the open plan contemporary feel.

Lusso installed their single glazed frameless system, some of which were fire-rated. Frameless glazed sliding doors were chosen to complete the design. Where glazing was required over the atria area, Lusso 25 was utilised with enhanced guarding specification for barrier edge loading.

Prestigious Showroom

The result is a space that is inviting for customers as well as showing off the cars to their best advantage. The showroom’s minimalistic and modern design is certain to create a sense of exclusivity, worthy of the prestigious Volkswagen brand.
