Gradus has supplied and installed a range of bespoke wall protection solutions throughout the ground-breaking new Proton Beam Therapy Centre at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Gradus supplied and installed its SureProtect Pure® hygienic wall cladding in White and Iceberg shades. Specially designed to create an impermeable barrier to moisture and bacteria it features a smooth, easy-to-clean surface to ensure a hygienic solution that meets ‘Health Building Note 00-09: Infection control in the built environment’.

Full-height Corner Guards were installed to protect the corners, which are the most vulnerable area of a building, whilst Wall Guards protect the walls from impact and abrasion damage caused by foot and wheeled traffic. Behind the beds, Bed Head Protectors were installed to protect the vital medical equipment used to support patients - all these products were chosen in Alum or Chalk colours to blend into the background and complement the overall design of the facility, helping to ensure a well-protected and aesthetically pleasing building.

Gradus installed its Combination Rails, a handrail with a wall guard element combined to offer both support and protection, in areas that will be used by potentially vulnerable patients.

The handrails were supplied in Shale colour to offer a 30 points LRV difference from the wall on which it is attached, ensuring a suitable contrast to provide both support and direction. This is in line with BS 8300-2:2018 and Approved Document M.

Gradus Esplanade 5000 primary barrier matting was also supplied for the main entrance of the centre. Esplanade 5000 helps to reduce the amount of tracked-in dirt and moisture and prolong the life-cycle of the surrounding floorcovering whilst reducing the risk of slips and trips caused by wet flooring. The mat features 100% solution dyed nylon wipers from the Boulevard 5000 range providing excellent soil and moisture retention.
