Heated Driveway Systems Ltd designed and installed an automatic ice and snow melting system at a new-build private residence in Ascot, helping maintain safe access to the property, garage and parking area during freezing conditions.
Project overview
The project involved installing a heated driveway, vehicle access tracks, pedestrian routes and parking area. The system was designed to integrate with the external surfacing, providing an alternative to manual snow clearance and salt application.
Heating system design and installation
Heated Driveway Systems installed eight bespoke outdoor heating mats and cable units, each rated at 4,455W, to heat two access tracks and the parking area.
The installation incorporated a concrete base, outdoor heating mats and cables, and a combination of tarmac and block paving finishes.
The completed system provides a 26m-long heated driveway and a 60m² heated parking area, with a total installed power of 35.7kW.
Automatic ice and snow melting
The system is controlled by an automatic HDS ice and snow melting controller, using temperature and moisture sensors to detect conditions requiring heating.
This automated system helps maintain access to the property during winter weather, reducing the need for manual snow removal and salt application.
