The Halcon Centre, near Taunton, Somerset, provides short breaks with 24-hour professional care, for up to 18 adults who are physically disabled or have sensory loss. The centre belongs to the Somerset Care Group, one of major care providers in southern England.
The SureProtect Design® bespoke wall cladding features a row of imitation panels, that have been designed to look hand-drawn with a marker pen. It is the result of a supply and fit service that saw the Gradus dedicated contracts team carry the project from initial survey, through design and manufacture, to installation.
“Throughout the project, Gradus worked very closely with us to realise the homely look we were after, and we are delighted with the finished design, which captures exactly what we wanted,” says Karen Ward, Projects Officer at Somerset Care. “We are now looking to extend the same design throughout the building, as well as into other centres within our group.”
In addition, the Halcon Centre has further increased the corridor walls’ protection by installing Gradus’s CGH5090 High Impact PVC-u Corner Guards and WGS200 Wall Guards, both in Gravel colour. On the advice of Gradus’s contracts team, the wall guards have been installed at floor-level as an alternative to skirting, offering additional protection against the wheelchairs that make up much of the corridor’s traffic.
“The aim with the Halcon Centre was to ensure the right level of wall protection while creating the aesthetic style the client wanted,” comments Ian Cartwright, Wall Protection Specialist at Gradus. “This is an example of the one-to-one service we provide, working closely with the client to achieve the perfect solution for their Wall Protection requirements and specific design scheme.”
